How To Save Staple Meals

The goal of tracking your food is to eventually make tracking easier, faster, and almost automatic.

You do that by creating repeatable meals.

Instead of entering the same foods over and over again every day, you build staple meals that you eat regularly, add up the total calories and macros one time, save the meal, and then reuse it forever.

The purpose of tracking your food is to eventually never have to track your food again.

Everything shown below can also be done in MyFitnessPal as well. Both apps allow you to create saved meals and favorites so you can quickly log repeatable meals without re-entering everything every day.

Example: Pre-Workout Meal 1

This meal has 2 parts:

Part 1: Protein Powder

2 scoops of Optimum Nutrition Whey Protein:

240 calories
48g protein
6g carbs
3g fat

Part 2: Golden Grahams Bar

1 Golden Grahams bar:

120 calories
Less than 1g protein
23g carbs
3.5g fat

Now Add Them Together

Calories: 240 + 120 = 360 calories
Protein: 48g + 0g = 48g protein
Carbs: 6g + 23g = 29g carbs
Fat: 3g + 3.5g = 6.5g fat

Trainerize does not let us enter half grams for fat, so we round down and enter:

360 calories
48g protein
29g carbs
6g fat

That full meal is now called:

Pre-Workout Meal 1

So every time I log “Pre-Workout Meal 1,” I am automatically logging:

2 scoops of protein
1 Golden Grahams bar
360 calories
48g protein
29g carbs
6g fat
